Our democratic republic is dying and President Donald Trump and some of his supporters are to blame.
The attorney general of the United States is acting as Trump's personal attorney. After the four prosecutors involved in the case recommended a nine-year sentence for Roger Stone, Trump tweeted his outrage, and Attorney General William Barr promptly ordered the sentence downgraded.
The four prosecutors immediately resigned in protest.
A few days later, Barr ordered a "review" of Michael Flynn's case, the same Michael Flynn who admitted to lying to the FBI. How long before Paul Manafort receives a full pardon?
Barr did say the president's tweets make it impossible for him to do his job. Kudos to Barr for trying to maintain the illusion of independence while bowing to Trump's whims 100 percent of the time.
