Dear Editor,

When faced with the choice between a nearby bus stop or a subway station further away, I always choose the subway. Over the years I’ve learned that chances are the bus will be late and over crowded, and once on board I’ll be stuck in traffic.

In my experience, if you want to get somewhere on time you have to go underground. All that will change when the BQX streetcar is built.

I support the Brooklyn-Queens Connector (BQX) streetcar because it means no more long waits, and no more congestion causing buses to arrive late and then all at once.

I often joke that I can walk faster than the buses travel through Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan, but that won’t be the case with the BQX. It will have its own dedicated, which will make it easier and more reliable.

Also, from what I have seen, the layout of the carriages will be more spacious than the city bus and will afford a more comfortable experience.

We won’t have to climb subway steps or stand in muggy underground stations to get around. Instead we’ll have an efficient and reliable option that travels along the water.

The BQX addresses so many of the reasons why traveling on the bus is unpleasant, and I for one can’t wait to make it a part of my daily commute.
